Portland Cooperative School is a tax-exempt organization
under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).
The ongoing operations of PCS are the responsibility of the
Board of Directors, which is comprised of elected
representatives of its families (members).
PCS maintains an Advisory Board, which is intended to
provide additional expertise and perspective to the PCS
community. The Advisory Board counsels the Board of
Directors on issues concerning the governance of our
school.
PCS’s Executive Committee, composed of the
Teacher-Administrator, a parent-member and a third member
from outside the school, serves two main purposes: It is a
consulting and advisory group for our teachers. In
addition, the Executive Committee oversees admissions and
serves as a“wise elder.”
